I have now finished a week+ at work here in Milan. I have learned so much already about how this small communications company works. The company was started in 1999 by a husband and wife to publish Easy Milano, a classifieds magazine for English speakers in Milan. It has become more than that as they have another publication geared toward parents in Milan and have also stretched into doing graphic work and layout design for multiple companies.
This means that I have done a little bit of a lot of different things already in my time here, and that will most likely continue. I have learned a lot about printing and working with a printer, which could prove useful even if most things are online now.
This past weekend, I stayed in Milan to explore the city and, with the beginning of the European Championship, watch lots of soccer. Both were greatly accomplished I would say. It has been the summer of soccer. I have been watching both the European championships and Copa America back in the states. I’ve loved every minute of it. It is so much fun to be in a country that loves soccer as much as I do for such a large tournament, and Italy has performed very well so far, and I am excited to see this country erupt if they make a run in the knockout stages.
I have become quite fond of what is called Aperitivo here. This is like Tapas in Spain where you buy one drink and then random plates of food are brought to your table and you stay until you’re finished. It’s a wonderful way to do dinner. (It becomes my dinner even though that’s not the purpose, you’re supposed to have dinner afterward.)
